Conference held at Friends Hospital on October 2, 2002

The Mental Health and Aging Advocacy Project held its annual conference, A Call to Action: Creating a System of Care for Older Adults at Risk for Mental Illness/Substance Abuse, on October 2, 2002 at Friends Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.

Presenters reported on national studies detailing how to help older adults with mental health and substance abuse problems. Workshops provided information and advocacy strategies on current issues affecting older adults in Pennsylvania. You can learn more about the conference and read conference materials.

This year's conference was sponsored by the Delaware Valley Mental Health/Aging Advocacy Committee and the Pennsylvania Mental Health Aging Coalition. Grants from Eli Lilly, Inc. and Pfizer, Inc. provided major funding for the conference. A number of other individuals and organizations also helped to produce the conference.
