Mental Health and Long-term Care Task Force
The Mental Health and Long-term Care Task Force was formed by the Delaware Valley Mental Health and Aging Advocacy Committee in 1993 in order to improve mental health access and care for nursing home residents. It is comprised of various professionals in the fields of aging, health, mental health and long term care. It offers training to front line staff who care for elderly in skilled care facilities and personal care homes. The goal of the training is to help staff to:
- Identify with the elderly and the aging process
- Know the causes and effects of brain disease
- Understand their role in managing the difficult behaviors of residents afflicted with dementia
- Help make their jobs more rewarding
